I’ve always been a big fan of the biannual Maison et Objet design events held in Paris and the first one of 2015 has certainly lived up to my expectations. While I wasn’t able to attend this time Wallpaper covered the event and I’ve found quite a few designs that excite me:
Hooks where popular at this year’s show and I think these are amazing – they’d also make an excellent cupboard handles
I was glad to see Japanese designer featuring this year. I absolutely love Japanese design and they make pretty decent whiskey too! Nodate is one of my favorite designers at the moment, who designed a chocolate installation at this year show.
Not only do I love the simplicity of these designs, but I am really into the idea of getting rid of excess and only keeping what you need, love and use.
A flexible wall system by Jean Louis Iratzoki for Alki
‘Hats & Coat Rack’, by Universo Positivo
After being commissioned to design a range of seating for a Spanish burger restaurant and having used thin wire frame in the design, I have been attracted to this as a material. Here are some wire frame designs I enjoyed from the show.
Arthur Leitner’s ‘Basil’ side tables for Petite Friture
I loved this little geometric server. There is space for a few books and the wooden drawers are really sweet.
