For this project we were commissioned to convert a disused long house into a wine and gin tasting experience for the new owners of Plaisir wine farm, near Franschoek in South Africa. The aged structure was packed with texture and character, and this inspired us to design an interior that showcased these layers of history offset against a rich, comforting and plush experience at a human level. This was achieved by illuminating the petina on the upper walls and ceiling and lining the lower sections with dark painted paneling and layering the interior with a mix of rich materials such as leather, marble and brass. The furniture was mostly collected from around the estate and up-cycled by our team of artisans.
