Nic Tamlin Interior Design Commissioned to Invigorate Student Eatery
C3 provides food services for companies with large staff compliments, or institutions like universities, and they were looking for a cafe concept to cater for students in a new study center in Stellenbosch. The design for the eatery needed to be simple and cost effective but modern and vibrant at the same time.
Working within established parameters
The student center was already industrial in its use of finishes such as the exposed stone concrete floors, so we used materials like shutter ply for cladding and to build a long communal seating ledge with space for storage of study books and magazines.
To add a fun design element food icons were conceptualized as part of a new brand identity and stenciled onto the timber cladding.
